There are over 28,000 persons experiencing homelessness in Texas and that does not include those living doubled-up, in more remote areas, and places not meant for habitation. Texas Homeless Network estimates that there are actually closer to 60,000 Texans experiencing homelessness on any given day.

According to the National Center for Homeless Education, 94,624 homeless children and youth were enrolled in Texas schools during the Student Year 2011-2012. Over 79% lived in doubled-up situations, 5.1% lived in shelters and 3.5% were unsheltered.

Texas Homeless Network’s legislative policy priorities are a collaborative effort. We invite communities to participate in a group discussion on the top legislation affecting homeless programs around the state.

Together, we can and will end homelessness.
